Nice post. I like starting a presentation with an image. I choose an image which is good and relates strongly to the objective of the presentation. I start with that image. Putting it up on the very first slide. Then I ask the audience what they think it is. It makes for a 'light' start and a lot of interaction. Then I reveal whats the agenda for the day and how this images links to that. The image then becomes a good launch pad which propels the presentations towards the final goal.
