Sears Tower found a new and exciting way to present the city of Chicago to its visitors.
If you have enough nerve, you can walk inside a glass bay and be 1,353 feet above street. Frightening.
Talk about creativity, talk about ingeniosity. Talk about presentability

According to Sears Tower press release, the new « Glass Walk Out » will open in June. http://www.searstower.com/media/home.htm.
Is it the highest observation deck in North America? Good question. I have verified both height.
Sears Tower Skydeck is at 1,353 ft above street. CN Tower Sky Pod – 1,465ft. Winner….CN Tower.
But, at that height, I don’t think it makes a big difference. Also, nice article on Wikipedia on Observation deck.
World ranking for the highest.
1 – Shanghai World Financial Center
2 – CN Tower
3 – Sears Tower
and….
38 – La Tour du Stade Olympique de Montréal (Canada)
41 – Calgary Tower (Canada)
47 – Edifice Marie-Guyart (here in Quebec City, Canada)
